4 airport rental hubs in our network. Each page compares every vehicle class (economy, compact, midsize, SUV, EV, van and luxury) across on-terminal and off-site suppliers — full-to-full fuel policy, no booking fees, no prepayment required. For airports we don't yet have inventory for, every page still shows the real airport, the nearest alternative pickup hubs, scheduled routes from that airport and computed travel facts — then drives you to live Kayak rates.
Hubs ranked by the number of competing rental suppliers and vehicle classes available. More suppliers per airport generally means a wider price spread between the cheapest off-site shuttle desk and the most expensive on-terminal brand counter — useful to know before you choose where to fly into. Numbers are computed live from the real inventory in our database.
A practical playbook we apply ourselves when quoting rates for the hubs above. No invented prices — these are tactics that move the needle regardless of where you pick up.
Airport rental inventory tightens sharply inside the 14-day window, especially in resort cities like Orlando, Las Vegas and Faro. Lock something refundable as soon as you book the flight, then re-quote weekly — most prepaid rates are free to cancel up to 48 hours before pickup, so if a cheaper brand releases inventory later you can swap without losing anything.
On-terminal desks (Avis, Hertz, National) command a convenience premium of roughly 15–22% over off-site shuttle brands (Budget, Sixt, Turo, Enterprise off-site). Shuttles run every 5–10 minutes and the saving on a week-long rental easily covers an Uber to a downtown pickup if you'd rather avoid the airport altogether.
Prepaid "full tank" options bill you for a whole tank regardless of what you actually use — almost never worth it. Stick to full-to-full: pick up with a full tank, return it the same way, and refill at a brand-name station a few miles from the airport. Airport-adjacent pumps routinely charge 30–50% more per gallon than the town five minutes down the road.
Rates move with shifts in demand: Saturday-morning pickups at tourist airports are the most expensive hour of the week, while Tuesday–Wednesday midday pickups at the same airport can be 25–35% cheaper for the same car. Returning even an hour late can trigger a full extra day charge — return 30 minutes early to be safe. One-way drop-offs often wipe out airport-vs-downtown savings; price both before you commit.
