We compare prices — you book on the cheapest site.
TripRoute is an independent travel metasearch. We don't sell tickets. We gather live prices from airlines, hotel booking sites, car-rental suppliers and ground-transit operators, compare them side by side, then send you straight to the booking page with the best price.
One search, 100+ sites
Flights, hotels, cars and trains compared across airlines, OTAs and suppliers in a single result set.
No booking fees here
We never mark up a fare. You always book directly on the provider site at their price.
Shortest path to Kayak
Every page gets you to live Kayak fares in one click. No price comparison clutter — just the route info you need plus a direct booking link.
No fake data, ever
We don’t display prices on our site — every fare comes live from Kayak when you click. Our route data comes from OpenFlights, a real public aviation database.
What we compare
Our data sources
Every fact on TripRoute traces back to a real, public source. We never invent prices, airlines, airport codes or hotel properties. These are the upstream providers we rely on.
OpenFlights
Aviation & airport dataPublic-domain airport, airline and route database. We use it for IATA codes, airport coordinates, carrier lists and route distances — every flight route page's distance, flight time and airline count is computed from this dataset.
Wikipedia REST API
City & destination summariesWe fetch the page summary endpoint for each city and country. We do NOT display Wikipedia text verbatim — we parse facts (capital-of, country, population) and rewrite them in our own words. Licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0 with attribution and a link back to the source article.
REST Countries
Sovereign-state reference dataISO 3166 country codes, UN M49 regions, ISO 4217 currencies, official languages, capital cities and approximate populations. Used on every country destination page. Where the v3 API is unavailable we fall back to a bundled dataset of the same public fields sourced 2026-07-13.
Curated hotel & car inventory
Properties, suppliers, transit corridorsHotel records (city, neighborhood, star rating, review score, amenities, walk score) and car-rental classes (per-airport supplier coverage, on-terminal flag, average daily rate) are curated from public supplier and property sources. Ground-transit corridors (rail, bus, ferry) are curated from operator timetables and published fares.
How route insights are computed
Most travel sites reformat the same upstream data. TripRoute computes additional analysis on top of it — the things that genuinely help you decide. Each insight is derived from real data, not generated text:
- Great-circle distanceComputed with the haversine formula from the origin and destination airport coordinates (OpenFlights lat/long). Shown in miles and kilometers on every route page.
- Estimated flight timeDerived from distance using a per-aircraft-class cruise-speed model, with a floor of 45 minutes to account for taxi, climb and approach.
- Time zone differenceEstimated from origin and destination longitude (15° per hour). Political time zones differ, but this is accurate enough for travel planning.
- Carbon footprintPer-passenger CO₂ in kg, computed as distance × 0.09 (a conservative economy-class factor including radiative forcing).
- Route competitivenessFor each origin airport we rank every destination by the number of airlines operating direct flights (parsed from the OpenFlights directCarriers array). The most competitive route from each origin gets called out — an analysis you won't find on Google Flights or Kayak.
- Route difficulty scoreA 1–10 composite of distance, time-zone shift and whether direct service exists. Helps you quickly see which routes need advance planning for layovers.
- Seasonal adviceGenerated from the destination's hemisphere and the current calendar month — peak, off-peak or shoulder season guidance.
- Alternative airports & nearby destinationsComputed by haversine distance from the origin/destination airport to every other airport in our dataset, filtered to a sensible radius (≤300 miles).
Prices are never stored on TripRoute. Every page links you straight to Kayak for a live, real-time fare across 100+ airlines and booking sites. See our how it works page for the affiliate disclosure and full methodology.
Editorial oversight
E-E-A-TIndependent travel metasearch — not owned by any airline, OTA or hotel chain. Every route, hotel and transit fact is computed from public datasets (OpenFlights, REST Countries, Wikipedia) and reviewed by our editors before publishing. We add original analysis (great-circle distance via haversine, competitiveness ranking, difficulty scores, CO₂ and time-zone calculations) — we never copy Wikipedia verbatim. Last editorial review: August 19, 2026. See our methodology for full transparency.

How we make money
When you click a deal and book on the provider site, that provider may pay us a referral fee. That never changes which result we show — we sort by price, full stop. Every commercial link carries rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" so search engines and you can both see it's an affiliate link. See our how it works page for the full methodology.
